The last of our garden harvest came in last week. A small mountain of tomatoes, peppers, and a few stray okra. Lots of herbs are hung to dry along the kitchen ceiling-- rosemary, greek oregano, tarragon, three different sages, and lemon balm. Lastly, there were the basil plants, removed whole, stripped of their leaves and made into pesto for the freezer. More basil must be planted next spring. That is the beauty of fall garden cleanup: the fresh canvas for planning next year's garden.
