Room Shoes

My Wonderbug is so happy with her new slippers, though the sweet vintage buttons didn't last long. They understandably hurt her feet when she curled them underneath her to sit on the floor.

These are Japanese 'room shoes' from a craft book filled with mother & daughter clothing and zakka, that beautifully handmade flotsam of everyday life. I used thrifted twill, pink check homespun, and organic cotton batting leavings from one of my mother-in-law's beautiful quilts.

My Truffle wants a pair, too, but with sky blue plaid flannel for the lining. She would. She's the cozy one.

Those are absolutely adorable! Do you read Japanese? Or is there an English version of this?

Those are so cute! Too bad the buttons had to go, but I can understand how they might be uncomfortable.

Okay, I got the book, and I'm going to make the slippers soon :) However, I'm trying to find the pieces of the patterns to make the dress on page 42, and I can't seem to figure out which pattern pieces I'm supposed to be using! Argh! I "think" I found two of them, the front and the sleeve, but I can't seem to find the back piece. It seems to be used by several of the patterns, but I can't seem to find it at all. Any ideas?

I don't have the particular book with me, and I'm travelling, so let's see...

If I remember right, this book uses a number to identify the pattern. Look around the edge of the pattern sheet. Are there numbers along the edge with lines to the pertinent pieces? Also look at the 'making' page for the dress, it should be in the back of the book. It will show the cutting layout, which will help you find the shape of the pieces you need.

Do ask if there is something I can help with, and have fun!
